Lun Yee Tong Promo 2013

The year of the Snake has arrived. Time to sound the drums, light the fireworks, awaken the Dragons and Tigers for the celebration. This year I had the honor and pleasure to perform with Sacramento's lion dance team, Lun Yee Tong. The group not only does lion and dragon dancing, but also martial arts performance as well. The team and I trained hard in preparation for the performance. From push ups, to running, and frog jumps, just to name a few, we were ready for the New Year. We not only performed at markets, but also casinos and restaurants as well. Seeing as this is my first year, I only did one kung fu form and a part of the dragon. Regardless, it was still a fun experience and I can't wait for the next performance and give the lion a go.
With all of the videos that my friend James was able to record for me on my Canon 60D, I was able to put together a six minute promo trailer to show people what the team can do. This also allowed me to put more of my editing skills to work. If you are looking for excitement and action, then you will want to look for Lun Yee Tong's Dragon Lion Group.

Sacramento Film Festival 2013 The Results Are In

So sadly we didn't win the film festival, but I am happy that were selected and given an oppotunity to show our talents. In a way we did win.
So I would like to take this oppurtunity to say Thank you. To my two Nephews and Niece for having the courage to stand in front the camera and give out your hearts and joy to helping your uncle make his story come to life. To those who believed in me no matter how hard the path is for me. This film that we made is about taking pictures, so that we can remember all of the good times. So let this film be a reminder of the great times we had making a movie together and many more to come. If you three are reading this, take a bow because you three are famous in my book.

Sacramento Film Festival 2013

I am pleased to announce that my film, "The Recorder" has been selected at the Sacramento International Film Festival for 2013. The festival will begin on April 20th 2013 and my film will be shown on April 27th. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my niece and nephews for helping me make this experience possible. It was an extremely low budget film, but it still proved to be a success as it was selected out of the hundreds and possibly thousands of other entries.

I am also happy to announce that my Script "The Fourth Prince", my very first official script, is one of the top 12 scripts in the Sacramento Script Competition  at the Sacramento Film Festival. Things are really looking up now. The script took two years to complete and finally it will be heard.

More info on the festival coming soon.

The Recorder

Two kids follow a little boy, who is taking pictures of ordinary things and soon discover that there is a story behind all of them.
This film is only about 10 minutes long, but it took us about four days to shoot. Mainly because of the rainy weather during those days. However, the timing was a perfect, for that week was Thanksgiving week and the kids were off for an entire week, so they were available for filming. We went to three different locations in Chico California to film the movie and luckily we did not have to travel far. First location was at Horseshoe Lake, second was Rosedale Elementary, and third was at the Chico Cemetery.
The challenge was working with the kids. Especially when they are always in the mood to play. The lake and the school were the hardest place to keep them in line when the place is literally a playground. Not just that, but making sure they don't look at the camera and laugh in the middle of their dialogues. That of course proved to be a difficult task. After hours of laughter we were able to get the final shots and takes to move on to the next task.
Editing took a day and a half to finish, and just in time for submitting the film to the San Francisco International Film Festival. Wish us luck.
